Recognising that development is frequently controversial, Ensign undertook delivery of a comprehensive programme of community engagement on its emerging proposals for the development at Buckton Fields.

The form of the consultation was specifically developed with reference to the Daventry District Council Statement of Community Involvement (adopted March 2006) and discussed with Council officers.

In response to its pre-application consultation programme, Ensign has endeavoured to robustly address issues raised by members of the public and, where possible, sought to take on board constructive comments to help shape the outline planning application that was submitted to the Council in October 2007. A Statement of Community Engagement (SCE), setting out how, where and when the community was involved in the preparation of Ensign's proposals for Buckton Fields was included as part of this application.

Following submission of this outline planning application, Ensign continued to engage with Daventry District Council and other statutory consultees. Subsequent communications activity undertaken by the developer to keep wider stakeholders informed about the progress of that application post submission, as well as details of amendments and revisions subsequently made to the original planning application between 2007 and 2011, are detailed in a separate addendum to the existing SCE.
